serve others

Jesus left us with a three-fold challenge to live lives of love and service to God and others:

  • "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength,"
  • "Love one another as I have loved you" and,
  • "Love your neighbor as yourself."

We are passionate about loving the Lord, loving one another and loving our neighbors in need.

  • "Love the Lord your God."  (UP)

There are many opportunities for serving to help make Sunday morning and Wednesday evening worship go smoothly (e.g. ushering, serving Communion, reading, praying, greeting, decorating the Worship Center, singing in choirs, playing in the band, etc.)  Please contact TJ Burke if you would like more information.

  • "Love one another as I have loved you."  (IN)

We all have times when we can use some care.  We encourage and equip our community to pray for each other, lend a helping hand or prepare a meal.  To learn more about Tender Loving Care (TLC) Ministry at Saint Matthew, please click here. To request meal or ride support, email your request here.  If you would like more information, please email Tami Gomez.

  • "Love your neighbor as yourselves" (OUT)

We love our neighbors through many direct, hands-on service opportunities with the under-resourced in the San Francisco East Bay area and beyond.  Please contact Pastor Andy Smith if you would like more information.  For our strategic partnerships with organizations that serve the poor locally and around the world, we have developed the following five areas of focus:

    • CHILDREN IN CRISIS
    • POVERTY/HOMELESSNESS
    • RELATIONAL EVANGELISM
    • DISASTER RELIEF
    • EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN AMERICA
