From Crisis to Chrysalis: Cultivating Purpose Workshop

Modern Elder Academy is the world’s first midlife wisdom school—and to a community built on spreading wisdom and navigating transitions together.

Midlife isn’t a crisis. It’s a calling. That’s certainly the case for the three co-founders of MEA—Chip Conley, Christine Sperber, and Jeff Hamaoui—who saw an opportunity to reframe aging and help people make the most of midlife, an era that lasts decades longer than it did a century ago.

From online courses to workshop retreats on the beach in Baja or on the newest campus in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Modern Elder Academy blends midlife wisdom and social science-based knowledge to help adults find—and focus on—their calling. MEA students learn from the brilliant minds and teachings of world-renowned experts across various fields to connect with and grow their own wisdom.

This workshop will help equip you with the tools to ignite your life with purpose.

Milestone: 5th Grade Transition

Parents of Fifth Graders! As we approach the end of your child's elementary schooling, we want to invite you and your Fifth Grader to join us after worship on Sunday, May 5, for part 1 of the Fifth Grade Transition Milestone. We will share lunch together and hear some practical advice from those who have walked the road before you. Your Fifth Grader will leave knowing that they matter, they are seen, and most of all, they are loved by both their Saint Matthew family and God, the creator of the universe, who made them perfectly just as they are. Each participant will also receive a devotional workbook to help with navigating this big life transition to middle school.

For part 2 of this milestone, all fifth graders are invited to join Saint Matt Youth on Wednesday, May 8 from 7:30-9pm in the Teen Center for a "sneak peek" into our midweek program for middle and high school students! Join us in celebrating your Fifth Grader's journey and ensuring they feel supported every step of the way! Don't forget to grab some Saint Matt Youth swag for your soon-to-be middle schooler, available here. Help them carry the spirit of Saint Matthew wherever they go!

From Crisis to Chrysalis: Cultivating Pathways to Wisdom with Chip Conley

Successful hospitality entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling author Chip Conley is on a mission to reframe our relationship with aging. As the founder of MEA, the world's first midlife wisdom school with regenerative communities, Conley is disrupting both the idea of higher education and senior living. He has both a BA and MBA from Stanford University and an Honorary Ph.D. in Psychology from Saybrook University. He’s been a TED speaker at the prestigious annual conference multiple times. MEA is the world's first ‘midlife wisdom school.’

Conley's 7th book, Learning to Love Midlife: 12 Reasons Why Life Gets Better with Age, is about rebranding midlife to help people understand the upside of this often-misunderstood life stage, and he was asked to give a 2023 TED talk on the "midlife chrysalis.”

Join us on January 21st at 5pm for an evening with author and entrepreneur Chip Conley as he launches his new book, Learning to Love Midlife: 12 Reasons Why Life Gets Better With Age.
