  • Rustin Comer

    LEAD PASTOR

    Pastor Rustin is a third generation pastor. A self described church mut who has found his home in the ELCA. He is passionate about community, theology, the Bible, justice, good wine, and whiskey. Rustin and Heather have two amazing kids Jackson (8) and Hazel (5).

  • Mike Basil

    ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF CONNECTIONS

    Mike is an East Bay native and the son of immigrant parents. Previously ordained in the AG Mike is currently on track for ordination in the ELCA. He is passionate about community, relationships, board games, and great food. Mike and Juliana have three children: Ellie (14), Elias (10), and Bear (2).

  • Tim Philips

    THIRD GEN PASTOR

    Tim is a lifelong Californian and a lifelong Lutheran. He served in full-time ministry for 35 years. Tim and his wife Mimi are now joyfully embracing the third stage of life and the opportunity to help others live more fully in this season of life. Tim and Mimi have two adult daughters and three amazing grandsons.

  • Tami Gomez

    PASTORAL CARE MINISTER

    Tami has been a part of the Saint Matthew community for over 20 years. Her ministry began a decade ago as a hospice chaplain and now Tami enjoys loving on people in our community at all stages of life as she leads our Community Care Ministry team. When she is not serving our church, you may find her in her daughters' classrooms.

  • Sue Burke

    CHILDREN’S MINISTER

    Sue has been connecting with children in Diablo Valley for over 15 years. She loves children and families. She and TJ love them so much they had six kids of their own! When Sue isn’t serving the children of Saint Matthew, she can probably be found driving her own 6 kids all over town, or standing in front of the fridge wondering what’s for dinner.

  • Jason Slagle

    STUDENT PASTOR

    Prior to ministry, Jason served our country in the US Coast Guard. For six years he was stationed throughout California and Virginia. He’s a big sports guy (a Raiders and Dodgers fan), loves camping, fishing, and anything outdoorsy. As a Pastor’s kid, Jason is well-seasoned in ministry and has a heart for seeing students connect with Jesus and each other and believes in creating a space where every student feels welcome and at home in the family of God.

  • Mandi Slagle

    COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING DIRECTOR

    Mandi is a coffee-loving, pop culture buff who enjoys a scroll through Tik-Tok, she’s also a big bible nerd and graduated from Portland Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity, with emphasis in Biblical Studies, and is in the process of getting certified in Spiritual Direction. Her passion is walking with people who have been hurt, helping them find their self-esteem and worth through hope in Jesus. She and her husband love their life together as a blended family with their kiddos Caedance (11), Rayce (9), Isaiah (6), and Paislee (1).

  • Kathy Frattini

    BUSINESS DIRECTOR

    A life-long Lutheran Christian, Kathy grew up in the Chicago area and moved to California in the 80’s. She and her husband have been part of the Saint Matthew community since 1991 and their 3 adult sons were raised in the Saint Matthew family. Kathy is a business wiz and keeps our ministry train running on time and with the best practices possible.

  • Ginger Moya

    EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

    Born and raised in the Bay Area, she grew up Catholic but has since found her home in Protestant Christianity. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Rodel, with 2 kids, Kyla (12) and Aiden (8).

    Ginger loves spending time with her family, reading, baking and often finds herself with unfinished craft projects.

  • Paula Hayase

    DATA AND CONTRIBUTIONS DIRECTOR

    Contributions and helping our contributors are the most important things Paula does.

    She has a husband, two grown children, and a kitty cat. (She’s a cat person, but not a “cat lady!”) Paula enjoys crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, Word Jumble, Scrabble, Sudoku, and Jenga.

  • Tom Aragon

    Tom loves to go camping with his family and enjoying great food and wine with his friends. He’s instrumental in our men’s ministry and keeps our sound on point.
